Haddon Rig is seeking a dedicated overseer for our Cotton and cropping operation located 30 minutes from Warren in the Central West of NSW. This position will suit a positive and pro-active person who is looking to learn, have job variety and career progression within the Agriculture industry.

 The applicant will work closely with a young Cropping Manager and small team. You will be responsible for providing direction, coordination and WHS supervision of contractors and permanent staff. You will be involved in the preparation, sowing, growing and monitoring, harvesting and storage of our mixed-cropping operation including dryland (wheat, chickpeas, sorghum, canola) and irrigated cotton.

 Your duties will include operating a mix of high capacity modern machinery including spray rigs, spreaders, sowing plant, two harvesters, B double, single semi and rigid trucks. You will be involved in the maintenance and operation of this equipment as well as using innovative farming technology to improve crop production and yield.

 This is a rare opportunity to be involved in a fast-moving, family oriented and innovative company, using the latest technology and learning from industry experts. Haddon Rig adopts industry best practice and you must operate within WHS standards and in line with HR farming policy. The annual farming operation involves crop rotation using no-till controlled traffic methods to plant approximately 2000 hectares of chickpeas, 2000 hectares of canola, 25000 hectares of wheat and 2000 hectares of cotton annually.

 Applicants should have the following attributes:

  • Demonstrated farming experience
  • Preferable but not essential, either tertiary or trade qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Demonstrated ability to show attention to detail and keep basic, legible records
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance of equipment
  • Neat appearance and general social etiquette
  • Truck, MC and car license
  • Ability to practice both safe work methods and also assist in development and training of staff, casuals and contractors
  • Current Chemical cert is desirable, though not essential
  • Experience in cotton production
  • Experience using cropping technology (GPS) as well as basic Excel proficiency
  • Great references and employment history in a similar role
