Email from Peter Purcell to Sally Falkiner, Haddon Rig, July 09

“Originally Dick McColl and I thought just to include those jackaroos and staff/employees from our particular era but, in the process of trying to locate them, I found myself talking to the HR Veterinarian of that time, Syd Miller from Warwick, Qld. I don't Know if you know Syd but he is a great character and raconteur with some great stories relating to his time at HR. Anyway, Syd started throwing all these names at me, mostly pre-late1960's, whom he thought would be interested in the reunion as well, himself included even though he is now 83!

Now, I'd imagine that if the word of a reunion at HR gets out on the grapevine, it could turn out to be much bigger than what we originally envisaged....................”
And so it has come to pass ................

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th November 2010
The Haddon Rig Reunion!
“Haddon Rig”, Warren, NSW 2824
.........................................................................................

Haddon Rig is primarily about people, stretching through from the 19th to the 21st Centuries, an iconic and historic part of Australia.

Through the eras of huge cattle runs; Massive sheep numbers, soldier-settlement divisions, teams of boundary riders, dozens of jackaroos, shearer strikes; night horses; wood-fired stoves, mutton; drunks; rabbits; education and training, floods; woolshed B&S Balls; romances; farming, irrigation, fencing, eating, drinking, marriages; scandals; breakthroughs, youngsters from China/south America/England, neighbours, water, prestige; integrity; VIP visits, tourism, hard work, friendships, fist fights, tragedy, achievements, sheer genius, team work and a lot of laughs.

There are a lot of memories and a lot of you who make up the fabric of Haddon Rig as anager/Jackaroo/mechanic/ Vet/Pilot/ Cook/Secretary/Nanny/ Toiler/BurrChipper/Fencer/Overseer/Governess/Consultant/lawyer/Farmer/cleaner/owner or whatever during the past 125 years!  This is the chance for everyone who has been a part of this iconic property to get together and SHARE THE STORIES!!
