Leg Up for Ag Program

Haddon Rig is proud to announce the launch of the Leg Up for Ag Program – a joint initiative sponsored by family-owned farming businesses Boridgeree Farming Pty Ltd and Haddon Rig Pty Ltd.

The Leg Up for Ag Program offers financial support, paid work placement opportunities, a graduate program and mentoring for young people looking for a leg up into a career in agriculture.

The Blomfield family, Boridgeree Farming, Canowindra and the Falkiner family, Haddon Rig, Warren, operate a combined 28,000 hectares of land across the Central Tablelands and Central West areas of New South Wales.

The combination of farming operations offers experience in large scale sheep and cattle enterprises as well as broad acre irrigated and dryland cropping using the latest technology and management practices.

Principal of Haddon Rig George Falkiner said the agricultural industry has felt the pressures of labour shortages for some time.

“We felt this was one way we could actively address this and encourage young people to work to work in our industry and build a career.”

“Haddon Rig has a lot to offer as a large-scale Merino and Poll Merino stud, and as a broad acre cropping and farming operation. By exposing young people to our business, we hope to further their skills across a broad range of enterprises so they can go on to develop a career in agriculture.”

The Leg Up for Ag program offers funding to help with course fees and other costs relating to studies, including accommodation.

Paid work placements during study holidays will also be tailored to the successful candidate, through a structured rotation across a group of properties including Haddon Rig and Boridgeree.

Following completion of studies, a graduate program will be developed to provide a pathway to employment within the agricultural industry.
